This is the Scott Adams Limited Gold Edition for the Atari. It contains his first 12 adventures and was distributed by Adventure International in 1981 for $100. It is widely speculated and accepted that only 1,000 of these were produced as no copies with a number higher than 1,000 have surfaced. Furthermore, the amount of zeroes on the certificate only reach the number 1,000 hence the general belief of the total amount possibly made.

The Scott Adams Gold Edition box set has also been credited as the first video game limited edition release and is considered very rare and difficult to find complete.

Other interesting trivia regarding this rare collectible is that it was available in either (12) twelve cassettes or (3) floppy disks. This picture displays number (33) of the floppy disk version. Each set was individually numbered and the disks/cassettes had gold labels that were numbered to correspond with the number on the certificate of authenticity, which was gold too.

The certificate of authenticity was personally signed by Scott Adams and came with a warranty that didn’t expire until July 10th, 2001. (Remember, this set was sold in 1981.)

A picture of Mr. Adams standing next to a monster was included along with adventure instructions and instructions for the Atari. Also pictured is a hint book (originally not included) for all (12) adventures.
