Phoenix Games offers a comprehensive two phase disc repair service. We utilize JFJ resurfacers to polish and restore damaged discs. Our resurfacers are specifically manufactured and designed to remove light to moderate scratches utilizing specially designed pads and compounds.
Severely damaged, gouged, or pitted discs generally are not repairable.
We repair hundreds of discs a month and discourage the use of toothpaste or various substances not specifically intended for disc repair.
Use of various compounds for home remedies generally creates additional damage to a disc thus making it more difficult to salvage even with our resurfacing equipment. We encourage you to bring your damaged discs to Phoenix Games first prior to attempting any “do it yourself” remedies.
Unfortunately, not all discs are salvageable. We always feel bad when someone stops by the store only to be informed that their disc isn’t repairable.
Inspect your disc and look for the following:
- CRACKS: Especially near the hub leading into the aluminum (data portion).
- HOLES: Hold the disc to a bright light and see if you can detect any light going through.
- GOUGES: If your fingernail gets caught in the scratch chances are the disc is dead.
- LABEL: Is the label (picture) side damaged or scratched? Can you see through it?
- RING: A large ring going around or most of the disc?
If your disc damage falls into any of these categories chances are we cannot save it. If you’re uncertain then stop by and we’ll do our best to assist you.
