Our replacement batteries have the metal tabs protruding from them just like the original Nintendo factory battery. These metal tabs allow for a more accurate battery replacement and a quality repair.
Unless you are experienced with a soldering gun, we’d recommend you didn’t try replacing these batteries on your own. Especially if the battery doesn’t have the protruding metal tabs. Without those tabs, the battery has to have hot solder placed directly on it and that could lead to the battery exploding.
Furthermore, some do-it-yourself fixes call for someone to “pry” or “scrape” at the solder to remove the original Nintendo battery. This could bend, crack, or create a hairline fracture along the board, rendering the game useless. Excessive pressure or force on the board could also cause the circuit boards to detach as well.
If the save battery on your favorite Gameboy game has died, then we encourage you to stop by Phoenix Games for a professional replacement.
