This Playstation 2 Nuby Tech Resident Evil 4 Controller is one of those collectibles that’s just a cool conversational display piece.
The controller is a replica inspired by “Chainsaw Man”: a character that runs around wearing a burlap sack for a mask and incessantly attempts to kill Leon Kennedy, the lead character in the Resident Evil 4 game.
50,000 of these PS2 controllers were manufactured and distributed in 2005. This is Number 8,439. No two chainsaw blades have the same blood splatter pattern thus each controller is literally one of a kind.
The PS2 version of the controller comes with a plastic windowed case that has an actual sliding drawer on the bottom, a slot in the back of the case with a picture of Leon Kennedy, a controller extension cord, an instruction manual, a small rubber piece to mount the chainsaw blade (to avoid damage) and a red velvet base to rest your weapon of destruction upon.
The rip cord on the controller is functional and players are required to pull it to start the game. The chainsaw then roars and vibrates as players prepare to fearlessly take on zombies.
Nuby Tech incorporated N-Motion technology which allows players to raise Leon’s in game weapon by merely raising/lowering the chainsaw controller.
Alas, while the controller looks and sounds ultra cool and empowers players to feel like total badass zombie killing machines – actual game play with this controller is tough.
